Raising Green Flag No. 3

Posted by: Christy Mc Namara | May 2, 2012 | No Comment |

Today, May 2nd, 2012, we held our Green Flag Raising Ceremony. In attendance were Deputy Mayor Kieran O’Hanlon, the Chairperson of our Board of Management Mrs Ann Noonan, members of the Board, our Parents Association, many of our parents and of course all our children and teachers. In her speech, Ann Noonan gave a brief history of our Green Schools Programme to date and praised the children and the Committee for all their hard work. Before raising the flag, Deputy O’Hanlon spoke of the importance of continuing our Green Schools work not just at school but at home and around our city. The flag was raised to tremendous applause and was followed by a reception in the school and a party for all the children. Sincere thanks to Paddy, Lorraine and Betty and the Parents Association for all their work preparing the refreshments for today.

What a WOW Day!

Posted by: Christy Mc Namara | March 28, 2012 | No Comment |

St Patrick’s G.N.S. had it’s first ever WOW day today. We ditched the cars and put on our runners and high-viz jackets and walked to school. Of our  220 pupils in school today, 172 walked (78%), 44 used Park and Stride (20%) and only 4 (2%) arrived by car. A huge success, well done to you all. Keep up the great work.

Walk On Wednesday

Posted by: Antoinette McNamara | March 26, 2012 | No Comment |

Our pupils are very excited about our first WOW Day, Walk on Wednesday this week. Leave the family car at home and join us as we walk to school. Make a banner, carry some balloons and make it a fun trip to school. Families who live far from school are encouraged to Park and Stride, park a good distance away from school and walk the remainder of the journey. Let’s make the school a car free zone for the day!

Kenya Day 2012

Posted by: Antoinette McNamara | February 3, 2012 | No Comment |

JAMBO!

Kenya Day will be celebrated on February 21st this year. A series of fun activities and educational presentations are being prepared and organised in advance of this years event. Last year, Kenya Day was a wonderful success, and raised much needed funds for our friends in Naiperere Primary School in Kijabe, Kenya with whom our school is twinned.  This year we hope will be even bigger and better! However it is not all about fundraising, we hope to raise awareness about the lives and school routines of our Masai friends through presentations prepared at a suitable age level for each class. We encourage all classes to decorate the hallway with their artwork and projects. One of the fun activities on the day will be professional nail painting for all our pupils by our visiting beauticians Kiara and Edel. Lorraine and Betty are planning to make popcorn and  candyfloss and we are also hoping to hold a cake sale.    Click here to visit the Become A Friend web-site.

A photo of pupils in Naiperere taken last year,  thanking their friends from St Patrick’s GNS.
